Early 1970s Aerial View Before Oriole Park at Camden Yards

These cool 1980s 1970s photos show the aerial view of Camden Yards before the beautiful stadium was dedicated in 1992. From the looks of the parked cars, I’m guessing this is the early 1980s 1970s? What do you think?

This isn’t the Camden Yards you’re probably thinking of. We stumbled across an interesting article …

Fantastic pics! I don’t see 100 Light Street in the middle pic, so it must be before 1973.

  • Malcom Annex

I agree with Mike, it’s pre-1973. Looks like the USF&G Building was under construction with the cranes in one of the pictures. Also the “MN” is missing from 10 Light St/ Baltimore Trust Company Building.

This photo is 1971 probably. There are cranes across the street from the 1966 Sun Life building on Charles street, just starting to erect the First Maryland Building at 25 S. Charles. That building opened in 1972 (now M&T Bank). 36 S. Charles isn’t there (opened in 1975), nor is ’73’s 100 Light Street, as noted by others.

A bit late to the discussion with this, but all you had to do was look up the record for these photos at the Library of Congress website, and there’s all the data:
“All photographs were taken by William E. Barrett, photographer, 1970.”
