Here are some ads from Dr. Bull’s Cough Syrup. Baltimore drug manufacturer, August Vogeler, acquired the medical compounds of Rev. Dr. Bull in 1873. Dr. Bull’s medicine included cough syrup, a blood mixture, pain drops, and compound pectoral.
The Great American Fraud: Articles on the nostrum evil and Quackery reprinted from Colliers in 1905 stated that Dr. Bull’s original formula contained morphine, which was later replaced codeine. It resulted in several deaths. Yikes!
